Krynica-Zdrój
Góra Parkowa rises directly above the centre of Krynica-Zdrój and has served as the town's recreation ground for more than a century. Comfortable walking routes start close to the spa promenade, a cycling route also crosses the hill, and the top is occupied by a clearing with a viewing terrace.
Poland's oldest funicular railway operates here, opened in 1937: it covers 642 metres of track and 148 metres of height difference. At the summit there is a playground, tube slides and a gravity track, horse riding and food outlets, which makes Parkowa a full-day destination for families.
From the terrace you look over the spa quarter of the town and the surrounding ridges of the Beskid Sądecki. On the western slope lie the Czaple Stawy — four small landslide lakes where water birds stop over; marked walking paths lead to them.
