Wieś Ślemień
Łamana Skała (929 m a.s.l.) is the second highest summit of the Beskid Mały range and the highest point of its eastern part, known as the Beskid Andrychowski. It rises above Ślemień in the Żywiec district. Ridges from the Kocierska Pass, Leskowiec and Łysina converge here, making the peak an important trail junction.
The summit itself is forested and unassuming, but the upper slopes are dotted with several-metre tors of Istebna sandstone. They gave the mountain its name, recorded as early as the 15th century. Lower down, spruce gives way to beech woods. The alternative name Madohora, sometimes used here, is inaccurate.
A blue trail about 7 km long leads from Ślemień to the summit; the ascent takes close to three hours and the round trip fills half a day. The route is moderately steep and suitable for older children. Down in the valley there is an ethnographic open-air park, a good complement to a day in the mountains.
