Żarki
Kuesta Jurajska is an exposed section of the rock step along which the Częstochowa Upland drops towards the ancient valley of the Warta. The difference in height reaches about 70 metres here. The most interesting stretch runs between the town of Żarki and the village of Jaworznik in the Myszków district, and its high point is the Laskowiec hill (391 m above sea level).
From the top of Laskowiec you can see the Warta valley and the industrial landscape of the nearby towns, and in good weather also further limestone outcrops of the Jura. The hill holds the ruins of the eighteenth-century church of Saint Stanislaus, benches with tables and a sundial that shows the time in Żarki and in New York at once. Close by grows the old lime tree called Babka, more than five hundred years old.
The cuesta lies along road no. 792 from Żarki to Jaworznik, and a car park has been arranged right by the Laskowiec hill. Seeing the viewpoint itself takes a quarter of an hour, but the surroundings invite a longer walk along the edge of the upland. It makes a good stop on a tour of the Kraków-Częstochowa Jura.
