A summit above Międzybrodzie Żywieckie

Kiczera (831 m above sea level) rises in the eastern part of the Little Beskids, above the village of Międzybrodzie Żywieckie and right next to the reservoir of the pumped-storage power plant and Góra Żar. The top is formed by a broad clearing with single clumps of trees which, seen from below, make up a characteristic ragged profile.

Panorama and nature

From the summit clearing you can see the Czupel and Magurka Wilkowicka range, the Cisowe Grapy, and further away Skrzyczne, Pilsko and Babia Góra. The slopes are covered with extensive bilberry patches, so in summer the hike doubles as fruit picking straight from the bush. The open ground, however, leaves the place exposed to wind — in changeable weather a windproof layer is useful even on a warm day.

How to get there

The easiest approach starts on Góra Żar, which can be reached by funicular. The alternative is the green trail from Międzybrodzie Żywieckie — just under 4 km and about 1 hour 50 minutes of walking. Both options can be combined into a loop, and the area of the reservoirs offers extra viewpoints along the way.
