Meteorytowa, Jeżyce, Poznań
Góra Moraska reaches 150 metres above sea level and is the highest elevation within the boundaries of Poznań. It lies on the northern edge of the city, inside the „Meteoryt Morasko” nature reserve, which protects the ground with depressions left by the fall of an iron meteorite together with the surrounding deciduous woodland.
The slopes and the top are wooded, but in several places gaps open up with a panorama of Poznań. The greatest curiosity of the reserve remains the impact craters, partly filled with water and ringed by boggy forest. On the southern slope there are drinking water retention basins, and at the foot of the hill lie the Zimna Woda pond and a historic lime tree avenue, today's Meteorytowa Street.
The walk from the centre of Poznań is about 10 km, so it is easier to set out from the Jana III Sobieskiego housing estate, where a yellow hiking trail begins: 2.6 km and roughly 50 minutes on foot. The paths in the reserve are unsurfaced and boggy after rain. The whole visit, including a round of the craters, takes about two hours.
