Wieś Koniaków
Koczy Zamek is a hill of about 846 m a.s.l. on the main ridge of the Silesian Beskids, above the village of Koniaków in the Cieszyn district. Despite the name there is no building here — the castle in question is the sandstone hill itself. The place is known above all as an easily accessible viewpoint.
The name derives from a Hungarian count called Kosci, who owned land in the area; in time the Polish form Koczy Zamek took hold. On the summit plateau stands a boulder with a cross, a memorial to soldiers and scouts who died fighting for Poland's freedom between 1939 and 1956. It is the main landmark up here.
The walk up is short and gentle, suitable for children. The blue trail from Wisła Czarne to Zwardoń runs across the hill; the section from Koniaków is about 2 km and takes roughly an hour. Cars can be left in the free car park by the Koronka guest house in Koniaków. The top looks out over the Silesian and Żywiec Beskids.
