A terrace above the sands

The Dąbrówka Viewpoint is a steel platform set on a hill 355 m above sea level, right next to the village of Chechło in the Olkusz district. The rise borders vast stretches of loose sand dotted with tufts of grass and lone pines, which makes the area look surprisingly desert-like for Lesser Poland.

What you can see

The panorama changes with the time of day: the sand reflects light differently in the morning than just before sunset, which is why photographers value the spot. In the northern part of the area you can make out a military zone, used today for parachute training among other things — entry is prohibited. A concrete bunker from the Second World War has survived close to the platform.

Access and surroundings

A road branching off Kluczewska Street in Chechło leads almost right up to the platform, and the Przylaszczkowy cycling trail from the village centre also reaches it. The visit itself takes a quarter of an hour, so it is worth combining with a walk along the sandy paths nearby.
