A summit on the border

Trzy Kopce is a wooded summit of 1216 m a.s.l. in the Pilsko group of the Żywiec Beskids. The Polish-Slovak border runs across the top, as does the Great European Watershed dividing the Baltic and Black Sea basins. The nearest village on the Polish side is Sopotnia Wielka.

Trails

The red Main Beskid Trail crosses the summit. From the mountain hut on Hala Rysianka the climb takes about 40 minutes, from Hala Miziowa around two hours and 45 minutes. The yellow trail from the PTTK shelter on Krawcowy Wierch over the Bory Orawskie pass takes about the same. The routes are typically mountainous and largely run through forest.

Good to know

The summit itself is entirely wooded, so the views are to be found on the neighbouring mountain pastures: Hala Miziowa and Hala Rysianka open up towards Babia Góra and the Little Beskids. Both have PTTK mountain huts offering rest and overnight accommodation. The peak works best as part of a longer ridge walk.
