Wieś Międzygórze
Śnieżnik (1,425 m above sea level) is the highest peak of the Eastern Sudetes and the keystone of the whole Śnieżnik massif, which stretches across the Polish-Czech border. The summit lies above the tree line, which makes it a natural viewpoint open in every direction.
The panorama takes in successive Sudeten ranges and the Beskids, and in exceptionally clear air also the ridge of the Karkonosze. Rocky debris fields formed during the Pleistocene are clearly visible on the slopes. About 200 metres from the top lies a hollow where the Morava, one of the larger Czech rivers, has its source. Beside the summit stand the ruins of a former building that once sheltered hikers.
From Międzygórze the route follows the red trail first and then the green one — 5.8 km and roughly three hours of walking. On the way, at 1,218 m above sea level, a PTTK mountain hut is open. The summit is windy and cold even in summer.
