Wieś Jaworki
Wysokie Skałki, also called Wysoka, is the highest summit of the Pieniny and of the whole Pieniny Klippen Belt, reaching 1050 m a.s.l. It lies in the Małe Pieniny on the Polish-Slovak border, above the village of Jaworki. The dome-shaped top is built of red crinoidal limestone, which gives the rocks their rusty colour.
The summit is protected on both sides of the border. The southern slopes belong to the Slovak Pieniny National Park, while the Wysokie Skałki nature reserve was created on the north-western side to protect a fragment of upper montane spruce forest. The slopes are mostly wooded, so the views open up only at the very top.
The green trail from Jaworki leads to the summit, about 3.6 km and roughly two hours of walking. A longer option is the blue trail from the Szczawnica area, running along the border (about 7.2 km, close to three hours). From the top you can see the Tatras, Babia Góra, the Radziejowa range, Magura Spiska and the Levoča Mountains.
