Mięćmierz, Kazimierz Dolny
Albrechtówka is a small limestone rise a few kilometres from Kazimierz Dolny, in the heart of the Vistula gorge. On its south-western slope a clearing has been cut into the copse, opening a view of the broad river and the ruins of Janowiec Castle on the opposite bank. The hill was once known as Kamienna Góra.
The panorama takes in the bend of the Vistula, riverside meadows and loess slopes covered with orchards. The spot is prized at sunset, when the light falls straight onto the silhouette of Janowiec Castle. The view is best taken in from the edge of the clearing — there are no railings or buildings here, but there is quiet.
At the foot of the hill lies Mięćmierz, a former raftsmen's settlement that now works as a living open-air museum, with cottages moved here from nearby villages. The blue Vistula trail leads from the centre of Kazimierz Dolny; the stretch is just under three kilometres.
