Wieś Łodygowice
Czupel rises to just over 930 m above sea level in the Magurka Wilkowicka group and is the highest point of the entire Little Beskids. It stands above Łodygowice in the Żywiec district, close to the Soła valley and Międzybrodzkie Lake. Despite that status it sees fewer visitors than the neighbouring summits, because the ridge is heavily forested.
The woodland is gradually being thinned, which opens clearings with views along the trail. From the eastern ridge you can see Babia Góra and Pilsko, and in clear air even the Tatras and the Slovak Malá Fatra. Long banks of stones once cleared from mountain pastures run alongside the path — locals call them “kródy” — together with the remains of trenches from the Second World War.
The most convenient ascent follows the blue trail from Czernichów over Suchy Wierch and Rogacz and takes roughly an hour and fifteen to thirty minutes. The route is short but steep in places. The whole trip, including the return and the drive, fits comfortably into half a day.
