Wieś Mysłakowice
Mrowiec is a peak of 513 m above sea level in the Western Sudetes, part of the Karpniki Hills in the Jelenia Góra Valley. It rises directly above the village of Mysłakowice in the Jelenia Góra district. It is built almost entirely of granite blocks of various sizes, which earned it its second, colloquial name – Mrówcza Góra (Ant Mountain).
The summit forms a small rocky plateau with a view over the whole Jelenia Góra Valley and, to the south-east, the ruins of a former abbey. The top is reached along the remains of stone steps from the first half of the 19th century, built for Field Marshal von Gneisenau, who used to hold open-air gatherings here. Black tourmalines can be found among the surrounding rock debris.
The approach along the red trail from Mysłakowice is about 1.8 km and takes under an hour, so it is within reach of families with children. It looks best in early autumn, when the forests change colour.
