Wieś Złatna
Gruba Buczyna (1132 m above sea level) lies in the Pilsko group of the Żywiec Beskids, above the village of Złatna. The Polish-Slovak border runs across the summit, as does the Great European Watershed dividing the basins of the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea. The mountain is also known as Kikula.
The top is forested and offers no panorama in itself, but small clearings lie on the ridge descending towards the Bystra valley. From them you can see Wielki Groń, Kościelec and Krawców Wierch among others. The woods here are largely natural, dominated by the beech forest from which the peak takes its name.
Two variants of the blue trail lead to the summit. The first starts in Złatna and is 6.5 km long, the second sets off from Trzy Kopce and measures 4.1 km. Both follow forest paths that can be muddy after rain, so footwear with a good sole is useful.
