Wieś Tylmanowa
Błyszcz, 945 m above sea level, lies in the Sącz Beskids above the village of Tylmanowa in the Nowy Targ district. It is a junction point: to the south a ridge runs from it towards Kotliny, to the north towards Jaworzynka. Its western slopes are covered by the Kłodne nad Dunajcem nature reserve.
The summit is treeless and holds the Papal Altar, funded in 2000 by two residents of Tylmanowa. Occasional masses had long been celebrated here; according to records, Cardinal Karol Wojtyła attended one of them in 1972. A year after the altar was built, a bust of John Paul II was added. Masses are still held here, and benches have been placed for those attending.
The slopes of Błyszcz are mostly forested, the only open stretch running between the summit and Kotliny. The yellow trail from Tylmanowa leads to the top – about 2 hours 10 minutes uphill. To reach the altar you leave the trail and follow the sign reading „Kaplica Papieska 200 m”.
