A Beskid summit on the border

Soszów Wielki is an 886 m peak in the Silesian Beskids, in the ridge rising above Wisła. The Polish-Czech border runs along its crest, and its slopes drop towards the Wisła Jawornik valley and the Czech side of the range. Administratively the summit belongs to Wisła in Cieszyn County.

Views and trails

The summit area is open, which makes it a wide viewpoint over the surrounding ranges. From here you can pick out Stożek Wielki, Cieślar, Wielka Czantoria, Skrzyczne and the Równica ridge with Orłowa. The Main Beskid Trail crosses the top, and a few hundred metres to the north stands a private mountain hut from the 1930s, where trails towards Czantoria, Stożek and Wisła Jawornik meet.

Who it suits

The most popular approach follows the blue trail from Wisła Jawornik, about 5.4 km and just under two and a half hours of walking. The route is demanding in terms of stamina but technically easy, so it also works for a trip with older children and with a dog.

  • Private mountain hut near the summit
  • Food service in the hut
  • Junction of marked hiking trails
  • No facilities on the summit itself
Cost: Free admission Visit duration: approx. 3 hours Seasonality: All year round; a winter ascent requires winter gear
