Wieś Kościelisko
Ornak is a grassy and partly rocky summit of 1,854 m above sea level, set in the ridge of the same name that separates the upper parts of the Kościeliska Valley and the Chochołowska Valley. The whole ridge consists of four culminations: Suchy Wierch Ornaczański, Ornak, Zadni Ornak and Kotłowa Czuba. The area belongs to the Kościelisko commune and lies entirely within the Tatra National Park.
The flat, largely treeless summit is one of the better viewpoints in this part of the Tatras. It opens onto the Starorobociańska, Tomanowa and Pyszniańska valleys, with Krzesanica, Bystra, Starorobociański Wierch and Trzydniowiański Wierch in the distance.
The yellow trail from the Chochołowska Valley covers about 4.8 km, while the green trail from the Kościeliska Valley measures roughly 3.7 km. Both are genuine mountain walks that call for sturdy boots and a supply of water; walking is allowed only on marked trails, in line with national park rules.
