Zakopane
Kozi Wierch, 2291 m high, lies in the High Tatras between the Gąsienicowa Valley and the Valley of the Five Polish Lakes. It is the highest summit situated entirely on the Polish side of the border. The name comes from the chamois that graze on its gentler southern slopes.
From the summit you can see Świnica, the cirques of the Valley of the Five Polish Lakes and the highest Tatra peaks: Gerlach, Staroleśny Szczyt, Koprowy Wierch, Mięguszowiecki Szczyt Wielki, Szatan, Niżnie Rysy and Rysy. The panorama covers both the Polish and the Slovak side, which makes Kozi Wierch one of the most valued viewpoints in the Polish Tatras.
The ascent runs only along secured routes: the red Orla Perć from Zawrat over Kozia Przełęcz, or the black trail from Wielki Staw. Both sections are about 1.4 km long, but they are exposed and intended for people with mountain experience, good fitness and a head for heights.
