A Ferris wheel on Ołowianka

AmberSky is a 50-metre observation wheel set on the island of Ołowianka in Gdańsk, right on the Motława river and opposite the Long Embankment. It opened in June 2016 and quickly became one of the recognisable features of the city skyline.

The ride and the views

The wheel has 36 air-conditioned gondolas, including one VIP cabin; each holds up to eight people and a full ride means three revolutions within a quarter of an hour. From the top you can see the Main Town with the old quarter, the shipyard, the stadium, the moraine hills and, in good weather, even the Hel Peninsula.

Around the attraction

The wheel is surrounded by a larch-wood terrace some 550 metres long, with an anti-slip surface, deckchairs and parasols. Food outlets serve ice cream and cold drinks. Ołowianka sits in the very centre of the city, next to the Baltic Philharmonic and the National Maritime Museum, so the ride is easy to combine with sightseeing in old Gdańsk.
