Wieś Jurków
Ćwilin (1072 m) is the second highest peak of the Island Beskids, rising above the village of Jurków. Like most mountains of this range it is an island — passes surround it on every side, so it stands alone above the valleys below. The watershed dividing the Raba and Dunajec basins runs along its ridge.
Grazing was once practised on these slopes; the reminder of that era is Polana Michurowa, also called the meadow on Ćwilin. Beside the trail crossing it stands a wooden shrine with an altar, and a small spring flows a little lower down. The massif also hides short landslide caves, among them Grota Rusałki.
From the summit meadow you can see the Gorce Mountains, the Tatras and neighbouring island peaks, and in good visibility also Babia Góra, the Sącz Beskids and the Slovak mountains. The most convenient approach is the blue trail from Jurków: barely four kilometres and about two hours of walking. A longer alternative is the yellow trail from Mszana Dolna.
