Zakopane
Boczań is a wooded elevation in the lower montane belt of the Western Tatras, rising between the Jaworzynka Valley and the Olczyska Valley. It lies within Tatra National Park, right above Zakopane, and often serves as the first stage of a longer hike from Kuźnice towards the Przełęcz między Kopami pass and Hala Gąsienicowa.
The blue trail from Kuźnice leads to the top — a short but steadily climbing section in the shade of the forest. The slopes are covered with spruce and larch planted after grazing was discontinued; for centuries it had kept the clearings open here. The views open up only near the summit and in gaps between the trees.
This is a calm outing of a few hours with no technical difficulties, suitable also for older children. National park rules apply and walking is allowed only on marked trails. In winter expect an icy approach and bring proper equipment.
