Podzamcze 1, Krosno
Kamieniec is a ruined stronghold set on a sandstone ridge near Krosno, on the border of the Subcarpathian region and the Low Beskids. The walls rest directly on the rock, so the building seems to grow out of it. The castle guarded an old trade route, and its hill offers a wide view over the surrounding forests.
The original structure was built in the Gothic style and enlarged in Renaissance forms in the 16th century, becoming a noble residence. Owners changed many times, and the division of the walls between families gave rise to a local legend. The eastern part is the best preserved — the entrance to the courtyard leads through it.
A small museum founded in 1995 operates by the ruins, with militaria, coats of arms, castle doors and a Gothic sword found in Zyndranowa. A walking loop through the woods starts at the foot of the castle, passing rock faces used by climbers and a viewpoint over the whole complex.
