Wieś Gołuchów
Gołuchów Castle was built in the 16th century for Rafał Leszczyński on a rectangular plan, with towers at the corners. Its present, fairy-tale appearance comes from a remodelling in the second half of the 19th century, carried out at the initiative of Izabella Działyńska née Czartoryska, who drew on the models of French châteaux of the Loire.
Since 1951 the castle has housed a branch of the National Museum in Poznań. The interiors retain their historic decor, and the display includes period furniture, textiles, European painting and a valued collection of ancient Greek vases. The building has also served as a film set — scenes for „Akademia Pana Kleksa” were shot here.
The castle is surrounded by an extensive arboretum of about 160 hectares, with many rare and exotic trees; the most famous is an ancient pedunculate oak known as Jan. The park also holds the mausoleum-chapel of the patron of the remodelling, while the alleys and ponds make a convenient route for a longer walk.
