Zamek w Chudowie is what remains of a 16th-century knightly residence set among fields and greenery in the Gliwice district. Together with the neighbouring 18th-century granary and the surrounding park it marks the former Chudów-Paniówki estate. The brick gate tower, visible from afar, is today a recognisable symbol of the municipality.
Sources name Jan de Hodow, recorded in 1434 as one of the judges, among the first owners of the estate. Over the following centuries successive owners extended and modernised the castle, until the fire of 1875. The damaged building was not rebuilt — it was left as a picturesque ruin in which open-air concerts were held.
Since the end of the 20th century the site has been cared for by the Chudów Castle Foundation, which carried out archaeological research here and opened a museum presenting the finds. In season, open-air events with historical re-enactments take place on the castle grounds. Visiting the interiors and the park takes under an hour.
