ul. Zamkowa, Pruchnik
The ruins of the bastion castle lie in Pruchnik in the Subcarpathian region, on the edge of a town known for its wooden arcaded houses. They are the remains of an early modern tower-and-bastion complex, laid out on a quadrangular plan with bastions at the corners. In the former Ruthenian Voivodeship such seats were a mark of the wealth of noble and magnate families.
The state of preservation is far from complete, yet the outline of the complex is still legible. The clearest element is the cylindrical tower with loopholes, built of thick stone and brick walls more than thirteen metres in diameter. Beside it stand two rectangular single-storey buildings, and the grounds are shaded by venerable oaks that are an attraction in themselves.
The visit is short and unrestricted; a quarter of an hour is enough to walk around the ruins. There is talk of rebuilding the site into a manor and castle complex, so the accessible area may change. Entry to the ruins is free.
