ul. Zamkowa 1, Sucha Beskidzka
The Renaissance castle in Sucha Beskidzka, known as the Little Wawel, stands in the centre of the town where the valleys of the Skawa and the Stryszawka meet. It is one of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture in Poland and today a centre of culture, art and learning for the whole region. The building lies on the Renaissance Route of Lesser Poland, so it fits easily into a longer heritage trip.
The complex has a simple three-wing form with a courtyard open to the east and four towers. Its most representative interior is the Marshal's Hall, where great court ceremonies were held. Over almost six centuries the castle belonged to five noble families: the Castiglione-Suski, Komorowski, Wielopolski, Branicki and Tarnowski, and today to the municipality.
The walls house the Municipal Museum of Sucha Beskidzka and a tourist information point, as well as a hotel and restaurant. A park surrounds the castle, so a visit combines easily with a family walk.
