Wieś Bydlin
The castle ruins in Bydlin lie on a rocky hill in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, in the Olkusz district. The stronghold was raised in the Middle Ages as a small complex with a residential tower, an outbuilding and a courtyard. Later the walls were converted into a church, destroyed by warfare in the mid-17th century; rebuilt once, it finally fell into ruin.
Tall perimeter walls with clearly readable window openings still stand, forming a silhouette visible from afar. The interior is empty and freely accessible, and the hill offers a view over the upland hills. On the nearby slopes, trenches and positions survive from the First World War, when the front line ran through here.
The climb to the hill takes about a quarter of an hour along a moderately steep path — a short walk, dogs welcome, but with no facilities for pushchairs. The ruins lie on the Trail of the Eagles' Nests, between Ogrodzieniec and Pieskowa Skała.
