Wieś Łutowiec
The relics of a medieval watchtower lie on Skała Zamkowa rock above the village of Łutowiec, in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, north of Bobolice. All that survives of the former structure is a section of wall about 4.5 metres long and 0.6 metres thick, plus barely legible traces of ramparts and a moat.
The history of the stronghold is poorly documented. Tradition places its construction in the times of Casimir the Great, when the watchtower was meant to support the castle in Bobolice and control the route running along the valley. Archaeological research was carried out here in the 1960s, but it did not settle the questions of the founder or the date of construction.
This is a destination for people who enjoy limestone outcrops and short trips into the field, rather than for those seeking a developed attraction — there are no information boards, fences or ticket offices. The rock is, however, a well-known climbing area, and the outcrops around Łutowiec are among the most picturesque in the Upland.
