A residence above the Biała Lądecka

Zamek na Skale in Trzebieszowice, in the Kłodzko Valley, grew out of a medieval knightly seat built on the rocky bank of the Biała Lądecka river. The defensive character of the 15th-century site gradually gave way to a residential one: on the ruins of the older building a Renaissance manor was raised, with an inner courtyard, a residential and administrative wing, servants' quarters and farm buildings. The work was completed in 1613.

The Wallis family and the rebuilding

In the 17th century the estate was bought by the Wallis family, who thoroughly modernised the residence in 1689. The river elevation was remodelled, and a new section with stables, a two-storey orangery and a tower was added. An episode from 1813 is linked to the place: the Prussian king Frederick William III, staying in nearby Lądek-Zdrój, chose to celebrate his birthday in Trzebieszowice.
