Górka, Sobótka
Zamek Górka stands in Sobótka-Górka, at the northern foot of the Ślęża massif in Lower Silesia. The origins of the complex go back to the Middle Ages, when a community of Augustinians was active here and their chapel gradually developed into a parish church. Foundations of a tower and walls were uncovered in the cellars, which suggests the complex was at times fortified.
In the 19th century the former monastery was rebuilt into a neo-Renaissance residence to a design by the Wrocław architect Wilhelm Rhenius. The building was laid out on a roughly rectangular plan and its silhouette is dominated by the two-storey church in the eastern part. The front elevation is decorated with a corner turret and a three-sided oriel topped by an ornamental cupola.
Part of the decoration survived the post-war conversions: tiled stoves, corridors with carved panelling and the Fireplace Hall with its large fireplace and richly decorated door surrounds. Today the castle houses a hotel with a restaurant, and the area is a good starting point for the trails of Ślęża.
