Mikołaja Pruzi 7, Lubin
Castle Hill lies in the centre of Lubin and is the oldest part of the town. A Gothic castle of the Piast dukes once stood here, and of it survives the 14th-century castle chapel, the only remaining element of a complex linked with Duke Ludwik I of Legnica and Brzeg. Fragments of the medieval town walls have also been preserved around the rise.
On the hill stands the Monument to the Victims of Lubin 82, unveiled in 1992 on the tenth anniversary of the Lubin crime. It commemorates the participants of a peaceful demonstration against martial law who were fired at by the militia. For local people it is the most important symbolic site in the town.
Sightseeing amounts to a quiet stroll: the chapel, the walls and the monument lie close together and can be taken in within an unhurried half hour. The area is freely accessible, flat near the market square and well connected with the centre, where parking and cafés are easy to find.
