Dybów Castle Ruins in Toruń

A castle on the left bank of the Vistula

The ruins of Dybów Castle stand in Toruń, on the left bank of the Vistula, facing the panorama of the old town. The stronghold was built in the early 15th century and long remained in the hands of royal administrators, hosting the monarchs themselves. Damage from the Swedish wars and later from the fighting of the early 19th century sealed its fate — from then on the building gradually fell into ruin.

What remains

The full circuit of the defensive walls has survived, together with the gatehouse and its stairs, which allow a view of the former courtyard from above. The layout of the complex is easy to read, and from the walls there is a view of the river and the silhouette of Toruń's old town on the opposite bank.

Surroundings and access

A blue hiking trail running from Toruń towards Suchatówka passes next to the castle, and the area fits well into a walk or a bike ride along the Vistula. Opening hours can be irregular, so it is worth checking current information with the Toruń tourist information office before visiting.
