Leśnica Castle stands in the western part of Wrocław, in the formerly independent town of Leśnica that was incorporated into the city. It is surrounded by a large park with remnants of bastion fortifications and a moat. The restored facade and the park form a single complex, accessible to visitors throughout the year.
The origins of the stronghold go back to the 12th century, when it guarded the route leading to Wrocław. Over the centuries it changed hands repeatedly - it belonged to the dukes of Wrocław, the Bohemian crown, the Habsburgs and a succession of noble families. Among its guests were Henry the Pious, Charles IV and Maximilian II.
Within the walls operates the „Zamek” Culture Centre, a municipal institution that organises concerts, exhibitions and classes for residents. The interiors can be visited, with a guide if required, and the surrounding park is a public green space with impressive old trees.
