The castle ruins in Bobrowniki stand by the Vistula, north of Włocławek, in the historical Dobrzyń Land. The masonry stronghold was probably raised in the 14th century; for a time it was held by the Teutonic Order, which reflected the turbulent history of this borderland. After the destruction of the 18th century the castle was never rebuilt, and in the following century it was partly dismantled.
The present appearance of the ruins results from conservation work that stabilised the surviving walls and clearly marked the outline of the former complex. The tower dominates the site, reaching almost twelve metres at its highest point. Walking around the walls takes a quarter of an hour, and from the surroundings the broad valley of the Vistula opens up.
The place fits well into a bike trip along the Vistula: the nearby ferry at Nieszawa allows you to cross to the other bank and continue towards Ciechocinek. The area is open and free of charge, and visiting requires no effort.
