Wieś Bagicz
Bolesław and Warcisław are two pedunculate oaks growing near the village of Bagicz in Western Pomerania, about three kilometres from Ustronie Morskie. They rank among the oldest trees in Poland — the age of Bolesław is estimated at around 800 years, and its trunk measures nearly seven metres in girth. Warcisław, standing closer to national road 11, is about a century and a half younger.
The longevity of the oaks is favoured by fertile soil and the moist, cool microclimate of the beech forest in which they grow. Both trees are protected as natural monuments, and information boards beside them describe their history and the ecosystem of the beechwood. The spreading boughs and gnarled trunks are impressive especially from close up.
A blue hiking trail some 31 kilometres long leads to the trees; it can be walked or ridden by bike from the seaside towns. The stop at the oaks itself is short, so it is best combined with a longer trip around the Kołobrzeg area.
