The Sokole Góry reserve lies in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, between Olsztyn, Zrębice and Biskupice. It was established in 1954; today it covers just under 216 hectares and is the second largest reserve in the Jura. It protects the woodland covering steep limestone hills and rocky outcrops.
Several dozen caves have formed in the limestone, among them Olsztyńska, Maurycego and Kordowa. They are an important shelter for bats, and the Studnisko cave holds a breeding colony of the greater mouse-eared bat. For the animals' protection most of the underground is off limits, but the cave entrances can be seen from the trails.
The red Trail of the Eagles' Nests and the black Barbara Rychlik trail cross the reserve, alongside a nature education path and the St Giles Way. Two rocks are open to climbers. Cars are left in the car park on the road from Olsztyn to Biskupice; the loop takes about two hours.
