Jarnołtów, Fabryczna, Wrocław
Dolina Bystrzycy is a landscape park west of Wrocław, stretching along the meandering Bystrzyca river through the communes of Kąty Wrocławskie, Mietków, Sobótka and Miękinia. It protects riparian woods, oxbow lakes and riverside meadows.
An educational trail of about 32 kilometres runs through the valley, comfortable both for a walk and for a longer bike ride. It begins in Jarnołtów within the city limits of Wrocław and follows the wooded bank, passing ponds, locks and former river beds.
More than a hundred bird species have been recorded here, among them the white stork, grey heron, mute swan and common buzzard. The southern part of the park holds Lake Mietkowskie, the largest reservoir in Lower Silesia, with a bathing area and water equipment rental in summer. The park ends at Kąty Wrocławskie, a town with a preserved medieval street layout.
