Łeba
Wydma Łącka rises on the Łeba Sandbar, between Lake Łebsko and the Baltic Sea, within Słowiński National Park. Its summit reaches 30 metres above sea level and it is one of the most recognisable places on the Polish coast.
Strong wind carries grains of sand from west to east, so the whole hill shifts by roughly two metres a year, gradually burying the forest in its path. The wind has also shaped the slopes: the western one is long and gentle, the eastern one short and steep. From the crest you can see the whole of Lake Łebsko and the open sea, while the surroundings resemble a desert.
The dune can only be reached on foot — along the shore or by the forest road. Cars are left in the car park in Rąbki, from where a walk of several kilometres leads to the dune. Until 1945 the hill bore the German name Lontzken Berg.
