A trail through the Szumny Zdrój reserve

The Szumny Zdrój nature and forest educational trail runs through the reserve named after Kazimierz Sulisławski near Górzno, in the south-eastern part of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region. The route is a little over 2 kilometres long, starting in a managed forest and ending beyond the boundary of the strict reserve. Themed boards are placed along its whole length, explaining the structure of the forest and the processes at work in it.

What to see on the way

In the heart of the reserve there are natural stands of wild garlic, and among the trees dead logs and standing trunks have been left in place, giving shelter to insects, fungi and birds. Right by the path stands an impressive pedunculate oak with a girth of over 300 centimetres, recognised as a natural monument. The arboretum with native trees and shrubs is also worth a look.

Views and remembrance

The trail climbs gently in places, and from its higher sections a view opens over the panorama of Górzno. With a little patience you can spot roe deer, red deer or wild boar. The walk ends at a site commemorating the fighting of the Second World War.
