ul. Rybacka, Racibórz
A water-and-woodland reserve near Racibórz in Upper Silesia, established in 1957. It covers almost 480 hectares of riparian forest and former fish ponds dug centuries ago by Cistercian monks from Rudy. This pattern — shallow basins woven between old-growth stands — is unique in Poland and explains the natural richness of the site.
Six ponds form a broad sheet of water where migrating birds stop to rest; spring and autumn are the best times for watching them. The red Polish Hussars trail runs through the reserve, lined with ancient pedunculate oaks — the oldest is around four hundred years old. A historic Cistercian hunting lodge survives in the southern part.
Six educational paths and one cycling route open the area up, so the walk can be matched to your time and fitness. Access from road 919 into Rybacka Street; the car park lies just beyond the level crossing, on the right.
