Wieś Hamernia
Czartowe Pole is a landscape reserve in the Lublin region, set within the Solska Forest Landscape Park near the village of Hamernia. It was established in 1957 to protect the gorge section of the Sopot river valley at the edge of the Roztocze upland. The reserve covers more than 80 ha at an altitude of 217–255 m above sea level.
The main attraction are the szumy — low rock steps and cascades where the Sopot breaks through outcrops of stone. Riparian woods and fir forest grow along the river, and the valley floor stays damp and shaded for most of the year. The picturesque ruins of an old paper mill of the Zamoyski Estate have also survived here.
A path with footbridges follows the riverbed and can be reached from the red trail starting in Józefów; that section is about 6.4 km long and takes just under two hours on foot. The name refers to a local tale about a clearing where devils were said to romp.
