Puszczykowo
Pod Dziadem is a strictly protected area of just under fourteen hectares within the Wielkopolska National Park, near the village of Jeziory close to Puszczykowo. Protection covers a well-preserved mixed coniferous forest stretching along both sides of the forest road known as Greiserówka.
Oaks of around one hundred and fifty years grow here, alongside somewhat younger hornbeams of roughly a century. The undergrowth includes touch-me-not balsam, cowslip and wood sanicle, while the local rarity is the Mosina bramble, a species uncommon across the region. Amazon ants are also numerous here.
The name commemorates an ancient oak called Dziad, which once towered over this part of the forest; the tree is gone, but the name remained. Right by the Greiserówka road stands a four-metre boulder dedicated to Polish foresters. The area is viewed from marked roads and trails, without entering the strictly protected interior.
