A stronghold from the time of the first Piasts

Gród Pobiedziska is a reconstruction of an early medieval stronghold, raised on the edge of the town by road no. 194, on the Piast Trail between Poznań and Gniezno. The whole is enclosed by a wooden defensive wall dominated by a watchtower more than ten metres high.

What to see

Inside the tower there is a year-round exhibition of siege engines at 1:1 scale, among them a battering ram, a trebuchet and neuroballistic machines; the working catapults make the strongest impression. Next to it is an armoury with the weaponry of warriors from the times of Mieszko I and Bolesław the Brave.

Visits have a hands-on character: at the range you can try archery and axe throwing, and a playground in historical style was prepared for children. In season, re-enactment displays and knightly duels take place.
