A reconstructed Slavic stronghold

The Slavic Settlement in Stobierna near Dębica is a wooden village built from scratch in 2012 to recreate the appearance of a fortified stronghold of centuries past. A palisade surrounds the whole, with huts, workshops and roofed shelters inside. The site is educational and recreational rather than museum-like.

What you can do

A visit usually combines sightseeing with activities: archery, learning about old crafts and songs, and displays of warrior fights with replica weapons. Guides in period costume talk about the daily life of the Slavs — farming, beliefs and rituals. The programme suits school groups and families alike.

Events and surroundings

In season, themed events take place at weekends, among them the Slavic Family Picnic, the Days of Medieval Crafts and Kupala Night. The settlement lies on the edge of the village near Dębica, among fields and clusters of trees.
