The Egzotarium Botanical and Zoological Garden operates in Sosnowiec, inside the municipal park named after pilot Jan Fusiński. It is an exhibition and education centre whose beginnings go back to the 1930s, when botanical gardens with a palm house were created here. Today it is one of the better-known places in the Dąbrowa Basin, popular in poor weather.
Under glass grow around 260 plant species from different climate zones: desert and semi-desert formations, American and Asian tropics, Mediterranean vegetation and species of oceanic islands. Visitors see succulents, palms, lianas and exotic herbaceous plants, arranged by their region of origin.
The zoological part consists mainly of fish and reptiles. The aquarium collection numbers about 40 species of exotic fish, and among more than a dozen reptile species are the Nile crocodile, the rainbow boa and Burmese and reticulated pythons. Six species of turtles complete the display.
