Kolejkowo Gliwice is a model railway exhibition set up in the Europa Centralna shopping centre on Pszczyńska Street, on the southern edge of the city. It is the largest display of its kind in Poland: model trains circle kilometres of track among miniature towns, villages and industrial plants.
The layout follows its own rhythm — within a quarter of an hour it runs through a full day and night cycle, from dawn to street lights after dark. Effects rarely seen in such displays are triggered as well: falling rain and a ship sailing across water. Among the buildings you can recognise the Gliwice radio tower, the Pokój steelworks and the Katowice promenade, and the mini restaurants even serve a Silesian dinner.
The exhibition is entirely indoors, accessible to pushchairs and independent of the weather, which makes it a rescue on a rainy travel day. Children hunt for details with a list of tasks, while adults appreciate the modelling precision. The shopping centre location makes parking and restocking easy.
