Wieś Garczyn
The farm in Garczyn was set up in 1993 as the first African ostrich breeding facility in Poland. It lies in the Kashubian landscape, among the fields and lakes of the Kościerzyna district, a dozen or so kilometres from Kościerzyna.
The flock numbers around 300 birds of various ages, from chicks to adults standing over two metres tall. They are accompanied by a pair of emus, that is Australian ostriches. A visit consists of walking around the runs and watching the birds up close, with commentary from the hosts.
On site there is a shop and refreshment pavilion, a shelter, a campfire place and a wide recreation area. Ostrich meat and eggs can be tasted — a single egg weighs up to two kilograms and is enough for scrambled eggs for eight to ten people.
