The oceanarium in Międzyzdroje is a modern aquarium complex in the centre of the seaside resort, on the street leading towards the promenade. Around three thousand square metres house species from seas and rivers of several climate zones. Its location in the heart of Woliński National Park makes a visit easy to combine with exploring the surrounding area.
The main attraction is a semi-tunnel more than a dozen metres long, beneath which coral reef fish swim past — clownfish, triggerfish and pipefish — along with sharks and morays. A separate section belongs to freshwater species: sturgeons, cichlids and arapaimas. The touch pool lets visitors meet selected animals up close, and an exhibition of life-size shark models shows their true dimensions.
This is above all a place for families with children — there is an education room, a multimedia display and a play area. The building is roofed, so it works well on rainy and windy days, of which the Baltic coast has plenty. The visitor route is short and wheelchair accessible.
