Kudowa-Zdrój
Błędne Skały is an extensive cluster of sandstone blocks at about 850 m above sea level, in the western part of the Stołowe Mountains above Kudowa-Zdrój. The jumble of rock, cut through by narrow crevices and corridors, forms a natural maze crossed by a one-way walking route with wooden steps and small bridges.
Most of the walls are no more than a dozen or so metres high, yet their fantastic shapes make them look far taller. The best known formations have their own names — Kurza Stopka (Hen's Foot), Tunel (the Tunnel), Wielka Sala (the Great Hall). The path leads out to the Skalne Czasze viewpoint, with a view of Szczeliniec Wielki and Mały, the Czech side of the border and, in clear weather, the Karkonosze range.
The rocks were once called Wilcze Doły and likened to the ruins of a castle. Scenes for The Chronicles of Narnia were filmed here. Walking through takes roughly an hour; the crevices can be very tight and slippery after rain, so firm footwear helps. Access is from Kudowa-Zdrój towards Karłów along the Road of a Hundred Bends.
