Czarne, Wisła
The waterfall in Wisła is a roughly eight-metre step on the Biała Wisełka stream, visible from the road leading from the town centre towards Wisła Czarne and Lake Czerniańskie. It is not a natural formation — it was created in the 1950s during regulation works on the stream — but the falling curtain of water is impressive, especially after the thaw or heavy rain.
Opposite the step you can see fish passes: a system of small thresholds that lets fish overcome the difference in level and migrate upstream. The water here is exceptionally clear and the bed is lined with pebbles of Beskid sandstone. The site lies on the edge of the Wisła nature reserve, which protects natural stretches of the Biała Wisełka valley.
The waterfall sits right beside the road, so seeing it takes a quarter of an hour, but the surroundings invite a longer walk. An inn stands nearby, and further on the road leads towards the Presidential Castle in Wisła Czarne and Lake Czerniańskie. It is a convenient break on a trip through the Silesian Beskids.
